  The Brentwood Fire Department is located in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. The Department is in Suffolk County Fire-Rescue's 3rd Fire Division.

 

 The Department has an area of approximately 24 square miles covering Brentwood, North Bay Shore, Edgewood and Baywood. It has a wide variety of structures including; single and multiple family dwellings, Suffolk Community College, C.W. Post, Pilgrim State Psychiatric Facility which has 25 to 30 non fire proof buildings with many converted into private businesses, 20 Brentwood Public School buildings, many taxpayers and commercial structures, several garden apartment complexes and the St. Josephs Complex.

 

 Brentwood Fire Department also covers three major roadways. The Long Island Expressway, the Islands major thoroughfare for commercial and commuter traffic, the Southern State Parkway and the Sagtikos Parkway.

 

 The Brentwood Fire Department responds to fire calls only and does not handle EMS. The Department responds to an average of 1,600 runs each year. Brentwood Ambulance, which is responsible for emergency medical care, handles an average of 7,000 EMS runs each year.

 

 The Department is under the command of Chief John J. Carney, the 39th Chief of the Department. Brentwood FD operates out of 5 houses with 11 engines, 1 - 95' tower ladder, 1 - 100' aerial, a heavy rescue unit, 1 brush unit and a mobile command unit. In 1998, the Department celebrated its 100th year of service to the people of Brentwood.

It is with deep regret that the Chief’s Office must announce the passing of Ex-Chief Joseph Rosina, member of Ames Elliot Co. 3.

 

 

Ex-Chief Rosina was sworn into the Department in May of 1960 and was a member of Pines Engine Co. 2. In April of 1963 he became Lieutenant and became Captain in April of 1966.

 

He was sworn into the Chiefs Office in 1969 and became Chief of the Department in 1973.

 

Ex-Chief Rosina was a member of the Wanderers, the Department band and also was a Suffolk County Parade Official for over 30 years.

 

 

Viewing will be held at Michael J. Grant Funeral Home at 571 Suffolk Avenue, Brentwood on Saturday, May 10, 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM and Sunday 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, 7:00 – 9:30 PM.  

 

 

Firematic services will be held Sunday night at 20:00 hours at Grants Funeral Home.  

 

 

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 12 at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church on Wicks Rd. in Brentwood at 9:30 AM.
